Wellbeing Wednesdays is a new initiative that has been spearheaded by the Center for Integrated Care and the Levine Scholars Program. With the recognition that the majority of health and wellbeing resources are further removed, physically,  from those students residing in South Village, this innovative program aspires to extend information, and increase accessibility to the students living within this part of our campus community while also offering opportunities for health and wellbeing providers to directly connect with students and discuss our campus wellness supports that can help them facilitate healthier day-to-day practices as NinerNation students.

The Levine Scholars Program is UNC Charlotte’s premier merit scholarship program. The funding for the scholarship is a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Leon Levine to help recruit civically minded students from across North Carolina and the country and to support their development as global citizens. Levine Scholars are tasked with initiating civic engagement projects during their four years at UNC Charlotte. To do so, each Scholar can apply for funding to put toward a project of their choosing in collaboration with a Charlotte-based nonprofit or campus partner at the University. Cole and Ariah, having lived in South Village for their first two years of their undergraduate careers, noticed both the geographic and informational barriers of accessing healthcare on campus. They created a civic engagement project in partnership with the Center for Integrated Care (CIC) at UNC Charlotte to form the Wellbeing Wednesday campaign. The primary goal of the project is to help students living in South Village increase their knowledge of and access to the health resources available on campus. Information from this project will likely be used to inform the eventual creation of a permanent health facility in South Village.
