Thriving Together Symposium

Thriving Together

The Thriving Together Symposium (TTS) is an annual gathering of the Charlotte community that provides opportunities for community building, radical healing, and knowledge sharing.  Throughout the year, TTS partners solicit feedback from students, staff, and faculty regarding their intersectional experiences at Charlotte.  Using this feedback, TTS partners endeavor to develop programs, services and general support for underserved and historically marginalized students at Charlotte in alignment with the inclusive excellence goals of the university.  The Symposium represents an annual commitment to: 1) create intentional spaces for cultivating wellbeing and radical healing and  2) share what we’ve learned, contributing to a campus climate that epitomizes equity, inclusivity, and belonging as well as to the burgeoning national conversation regarding best practices in health equity.

We are gearing up for the 2024 Thriving Together Symposium!  If you'd like to join us, please use this link to register.  More to come soon!

"Best Practices for Radical Healing on Campus"

April 1, 2022, 4-8 PM at the UNC Charlotte Marriott Hotel & Conference Center

On Friday, April 1, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, the MMHEI hosted the first Thriving Together Symposium at the UNC Charlotte Marriott Hotel & Conference Center.  This year’s theme was “Best Practices for Radical Healing on Campus.”  In collaboration with the School of Social Work and the Black Student Mental Health Task Force, the MMHEI team sought to better understand the experiences of historically marginalized students at Charlotte.  With this goal, empowerment spaces for these students were developed based on the Radical Healing Framework (French & colleagues, 2019), providing opportunities to validate their experiential realities and to engage in collective healing.  Join us as we share what we’ve learned and how this understanding will enhance the experiences and wellbeing of our students, now and in the future.
